Bulletins

Bulletins are notices issued to people on site — a safety alert, a change to site rules, a toolbox message. Unlike an email, a bulletin records who has acknowledged it.

The bulletins register with the search field highlighted

Reading the Register

  • ID — the bulletin's reference
  • Delivery Method — how it was issued
  • Title and Content — the notice itself
  • Date & Time — when it was issued
  • Status — where it is in its lifecycle

A bulletin is issued and then acknowledged. The value is in the acknowledgement — it evidences that people were told, which an email chain does not.

How Bulletins Reach People

Bulletins can be signed from a link or QR code, so acknowledgement can be collected at the gate or in a pre-start rather than at a computer.

Notes & Recommendations

  • Keep the title specific. "Safety Alert" tells nobody anything; "Crane exclusion zone changed — Level 4" does
  • Use bulletins for things people must know, not general updates. A register full of routine notices trains people to acknowledge without reading
  • Search by title with "Search bulletins" to check whether something was already issued before issuing it again
